What makes Dance Specialties so special?
Dance Specialties offers many types of dance instruction. Dancers are able to study tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, hip-hop, and tumbling on recreational and competitive levels. We believe that our studio stands out among the rest because we offer classes in a family environment. Each child in recognized for their individual talents and has the opportunity to make memories that will last a lifetime.
Where are you located?
Our studio is conveniently located not only to the Gaston County area, but also to upper SC, Charlotte, Mooresville, Shelby, and Kings Mountain. Our studio is proud to say that we have several students from all these locations. We are neighbors to the historic town of Belmont with easy access to many major interstates.
What age do you start offering dance classes?
We offer dance classes to children starting at age three (if they are potty trained). Our preschool programs are one hour a week and the dancers study both tap (for rhythm) and ballet (flexibility through large motor movements) once a week. We offer classes in all subjects for ages five years through adult. And we are one of the only studios that offers an adult competition team!
Do you have an annual recital?
Yes, we have an annual recital for all of our recreational classes and competitive classes. Our recital is held each year in the month of June. There is no admission charge for spectators so we encourage all to come and observe our finest work displayed in one big show. Each dancer pays a recital fee each season, which is due in the month of April.
Do you have competition teams?
Yes, we have competition teams for dancers ages five years and up. Being a member of our competition team is an honor and very rewarding. Our competitive teams have been recognized for their hard work each season by winning the highest honors regionally and nationally. Many of our routines have been showcased as top overall dances, most entertaining routines, highest scoring studio, top choreography awards, and many more. Our teams compete at four regional dance competitions and one national each year. We also participate in many workshops in our area as well as NYC. Come join a winning team!
Do you participate in community activities?
Yes, Dance Specialties is very proud of our talent and like to display it at local festivals and annual Christmas parades each season. Our talented students can also be seen on several middle school and high school dance and cheerleading squads. Our Dance Specialties Alumni can be seen on many college competitive dance teams across the US. We are very proud of all our recreational and competitive students.
